We are looking for an 18-month temporary Payroll Analyst to join our team!

As a Payroll Analyst with Canadian Natural, you will make a significant contribution by bringing your experience and enthusiasm to administering payroll for all employees. You will demonstrate your ability to adapt to the processes and functionality of Canadian Natural’s HR systems, allowing you to gain exposure to a diverse spectrum of areas. By applying your excellent communication and strong problem-solving skills to complex and challenging payroll processes, you will excel at service delivery while interfacing with clients and employees.

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts (Monday - Friday)

Key Accountabilities
  • Assign appropriate payroll personnel to emails using the payroll inbox and the Oracle HCM helpdesk Service Request system
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to employee inquiries related to payroll, addressing issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee records
  • Assist in processing payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance.
  • Verify, maintain and update employee records including payroll adjustments, and deductions in Oracle
  • Record employee changes in the Benefits module
  • Assist in UKG time and attendance entries
  • Collaborate with the payroll and HR teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Run, review, and prepare payroll reports and distribute for corrective action by the payroll team
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations at both federal and provincial levels.
  • Respond to inquiries from government agencies regarding payroll related matters as well as participate and support annual external audits and other government audits related to applicable government agencies throughout the year
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions and processes for audit purposes for compliance with internal controls and audit
  • Assisting in preparing payroll summaries, reports, and year-end tax forms
  • Investigate, review and recommend enhancements for process changes
  • Participate in payroll-related projects and initiatives as assigned
What You Bring to the Role
  • 3+ years of related experience with High School Diploma or GED
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Designation required
  • Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) Designation will be considered an asset (completed or in progress)
  • Expertise in current legislation related to payroll and employment standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues and prioritize work to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in Oracle HCM Cloud and UKG (Kronos) and the impact of stock-based compensation on payroll considered an asset
