Your Opportunity:
Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is Calgary’s second largest tertiary care site. Located in the city’s Southwest, it provides acute, outpatient, critical care, surgical, medical, neonatal intensive care, mental health, seniors, women’s and emergency health services. The facility is home to two units dedicated to the Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone. Each year, RGH sees approximately 47,000 Medical Outpatients.
The Cardiac Diagnostics department within RGH is currently recruiting a permanent, full time, Cardiology Technologist I. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Cardiology Technologist is responsible for the performance of various cardiac tests, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these test results, and processing the resulting data.
- Prepare patients for non-invasive cardiac testing to investigate cardiac abnormalities and level of function, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing and Ambulatory Monitoring.
- Explain procedures and educate patients on equipment function; collect client history for procedures and document information for physicians.
- Analyze and summarize test results, and generate reports for physician interpretation.
- Provide expertise in the set-up, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment; implement resuscitation measures when necessary.
- Precept, orient new staff and students; provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees and/or students.
- Serve as a clinical resource by providing information regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.

- Required Qualifications: Completion of certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology. Active or eligible registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist (ASRCT). Active or eligible registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists Cardiology Technology (CSCT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellence in providing patient and family-centered care.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience within the last 6 years, at least 2 years of recent experience in exercise tolerance/stress testing.
- At least 2 years of experience with the application, processing, and review of Holter monitors, including data analysis and patient monitoring.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environments while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Demonstrated excellence in patient and family centred care.
- Recent involvement in quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience precepting and mentoring students.
