Job Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care Cardiac Inpatients (Unit 66) – South Health Campus (SHC), Calgary Zone.

The Cardiac Inpatient unit works collaboratively with all clinical teams across the South Health Campus to provide advanced nursing care to acute General Internal Medicine and Cardiology patients.

Provide patient- and family-centered nursing care in accordance with AHS policies, standards and the Canadian Code of Ethics.

Lead nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to promote health, prevent illness, injury and disability and support peaceful death.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members – physicians, allied health, support workers – to deliver comprehensive, quality care.

Utilize critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, teaching, counseling and advocacy.

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible registration permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• Completion of required free courses (CRNA Medication Management, NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification) if not practiced as RN within last 5 years.
• Minimum 6 months experience on an acute care cardiology unit within last 2 years (or 1 year experience on an acute care medical unit).
• Demonstrated clinical assessment skills, sound nursing judgement, effective communication, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking and time management.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience in Cardiology, telemetry certification, PVAD & CVAD certification, Connect Care proficiency.
• Charge Nurse experience, family-centered care experience, collaborative practice pharmacy approach.
• It’s Your Move Training, N95 Fit Test – Current.

Unit 66, Acute Care Cardiac Inpatients – South Health Campus (Primary Location). 0.46 FTE – 7.75 hour per shift – 12 week shift length – 26 shifts per cycle – Days, Evenings, Weekends – 12 week “On Call” – 31 December 2026 closing date.

Pay range: $43.26 – $59.21 (Provisional rate for provisional permit holders: $39.58 – $54.16 per hour; full licence rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii)).
