What the job entails (overview)
This is your opportunity to embrace a culture that promotes a passion for customer service, teamwork and continuous improvement as well as ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service experience for our members and customers of Calgary Co-op. The Pharmacy Assistant position will be responsible for providing specialized pharmaceutical care to patients receiving specialty medications, including biologics and to ensure safe and effective therapy for patients with complex medical conditions.
Where you’ll be focusing (your day to day):
Assist in processing specialty medication orders, including verifying prescription details, patient information, and insurance coverage.
Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to help obtain prior authorizations for specialty medications, ensuring patients have timely access to their prescribed treatments.
Communicate with patients to answer inquiries, book appointments and provide exceptional customer service.
Assist with insurance claims processing and billing tasks related to specialty medications, ensuring accurate documentation for reimbursement.
Work closely with patients to promote medication adherence through timely refill reminders and educational materials.
Utilize pharmacy software systems for data entry, prescription processing, and patient record management.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with pharmacists, clinical pharmacists and pharmacy staff at store level.
