ResponsibilitiesAs a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provide a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include:
- Psychosocial assessment
- Resource-based interventions
- Individual, group and family treatment
- Risk screening
- Counselling
- Case management and coordination
- Transition or discharge planning
- Prevention, promotion and public awareness activities
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
- Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) through Heart & Stroke Foundation.
- A minimum of 5 years of social work experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in Women’s Health.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of community resources, income security programs, housing and support services.
- Demonstrated dedication to professional development.
- Demonstrated skills in assessment, intervention, system navigation and case management.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working within Women’s Health and grief and loss in an outpatient setting within the last 2 years.
- Experience with knowledge in risk assessment interventions.
- Competencies in grief and loss, child welfare and domestic violence protocols.
- Experience providing supportive counseling to individuals, couples and groups.
- Experience providing education to patients and families about grief and loss, general anxiety / depression and coping strategies.
- Experience working within Women’s Health and grief and loss in an outpatient setting within the last 2 years.
- Experience with and knowledge in risk assessment interventions, competencies in grief and loss, child welfare and domestic violence protocols.
- Experience providing supportive counseling to individuals, couples and groups.
- Experience providing education to patients and families about grief and loss, general anxiety / depression and coping strategies.
Effective time management and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The applicant will be skilled at developing collaborative partnerships with community programs to help facilitate access to services for ongoing needs.
Under general supervision from the Assisted Living Alberta Assistant Manager and in consultation with the SW Clinical Practice Leader, the position will provide supportive counselling and bereavement support for patients/families experiencing a high risk pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or interruption of pregnancy. This position requires knowledge and experience in the areas of trauma and grief support within an outpatient setting. The role works within a full scope of practice to provide screening, assessment, intervention as well as involvement with quality improvement initiatives, research and evaluation.
The applicant will engage in continuous professional development and education and be willing to undertake supervision and development of Social Work students. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations.
