Student, Compliance Assurance - Hybrid
Overview
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to support the Compliance Assurance Team (CAT) within the Regulatory Compliance Branch. As a Student, Compliance Assurance, you will assist in analyzing, investigating, and evaluating compliance information, coordinating and managing comprehensive compliance files, and collaborating closely with CAT members and other AER teams to implement effective actions. This role provides valuable insight into the AER’s compliance processes and contributes to strengthening industry accountability and performance, ensuring the AER’s mandate is upheld.
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Employment Type: Student, 4 month term
Salary Range: $21.05 - $28.53 per hour
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – up to five remote days per month, two remote days per week
- Engage in project‑based work aligned with the activities and initiatives of the CAT.
- Evaluate, prioritize, and manage comprehensive compliance files by gathering relevant information, conducting investigations and assessments, and preparing briefing packages to recommend effective regulatory actions.
- Support the development of compliance action plans and assist staff in understanding regulatory principles, available options, and enforcement tools.
- Collaborate with team members on the tasks above, bringing a fresh perspective and insights.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Government Affairs, Criminology, Science, Business, Oil & Gas, or a related field.
- Proficiency with common business tools and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe Suite; ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective communicator.
- Ability to balance professionalism with a personable approach, adapting tone appropriately.
- Collaborative team player who contributes positively and makes a meaningful impact.
- Proof of enrollment in a registered post‑secondary institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co‑op program will be a condition of hire.
