Wealth Planning Advisor – CalgaryWealth Planning Support Team (WPST) is a business unit within BMO Wealth Planning, Trust & Advisory Services, dedicated to providing advisory, planning solutions, and Subject Matter Expertise support to BMO Wealth Professionals around the wealth planning process. We leverage a team approach to deliver innovative and customized wealth planning solutions designed to assess overall wealth management needs and recommended strategies to help clients preserve, enhance, transfer and protect their wealth.
As part of the Wealth Planning Support team, the Wealth Planning Advisor (WPA) provides financial planning expertise and subject matter support to BMO Wealth Professionals, including Private Wealth, BMO Nesbitt Burns, and BMO Private Banking. The role supports the delivery of comprehensive wealth planning solutions across investment, retirement, estate, tax, insurance, and corporate planning strategies.
Key Accountabilities Centralized Planning & Advisory Support (70%)- Deliver financial planning support through the centralized planning platform, including preparation and updates of financial plans.
- Partner with Investment Advisors, Investment Counsellors, and Private Bankers to develop and present client plans.
- Provide subject matter expertise and coaching on wealth planning tools, including Wealth Path.
- Respond to complex or escalated planning inquiries requiring advanced technical, tax, or estate planning knowledge.
- Collaborate with High-Net-Worth Wealth Planning Consultants and participate in enterprise-wide initiatives and programs.
- Stay current on legislative, regulatory, and industry developments impacting wealth planning delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and planning expertise to wealth professionals across the enterprise.
- Support frontline planners through multiple channels, including phone, email, and virtual platforms.
- Contribute to the development of planning tools, reference materials, guides, FAQs, and learning resources to support adoption of financial planning.
- Support quality review processes, including updates to frontline handbooks and planning resources.
- Assist with business requirements, testing, and enhancements related to Wealth Path.
- Contribute to the creation of advisor-facing planning collateral.
- At least 5+ years of financial planning experience gained through client contact or in a technical advisory supportive role to advisors, coupled with investment industry knowledge.
- Strong understanding of advanced financial planning concepts and how to model in planning software
- Professional Planning Designation – PFP®, QAFP® or CFP™, IQPF® in Quebec
- Strong Technical Knowledge of Wealth Path or equivalent planning software.
- Strong customer services skills and focus
- Excellent computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS teams, Microsoft 365.
- Etc.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
Salary: $69,000.00 - $
Pay Type: Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
