Responsibilities
Understand the Firm’s organizational and financial reporting structure including all relevant accounting processes and systemsAssist with preparation and review of monthly financial statementsAnalyze income and expense statement accounts for significant budget and month-to-month variancesAnalyze balance sheet accounts for large month to month variancesReview and/or perform complex account reconciliationsPlay a key role in month end/year end processes including fixed assets, year end rollover, cost allocation, intercompany transactions, and indirect taxes prepayments and accrualsPrepare, post, review, and approve journal entries and AP invoices requiring approvalPrepare T5013 schedules for partnership, and T2 corporation tax returnsCollaborate with other team members and communicate in response to queries from our regional and non-practice officesPrepare documents for auditors and respond to Stats Canada surveysAssist with budgets and business analysisLead ad-hoc projects, as assignedMonitor internal controls and make recommendations for improvementMaintain strong working relationships and respond to financial statement and accounting queries from National Office team members and PartnersDevelop a basic understanding of MNP’s services, businesses, and industryAttend internal MNP courses to further develop your financial accounting knowledgeContribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processesSkills and Experience
Completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA)5 or more years of related accounting experience, specifically with preparing financial statements and analysis of variances, financial data, and reconciliationsA basic understanding of indirect and income tax considerations to support with complianceIntermediate Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skillsStrong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team playerStrong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to meet set deadlinesAny of the following would be considered an asset:
Experience working with Agresso/Unit 4 ERP Experience in a professional services environment Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse, Microsoft Fabric and Copilot, or other AI tools The ability to write or speak in French
