Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Financial Analyst (contract). In this position, you will play a key role in providing cost control, forecasting, variance analysis, budgetary preparation and accurate reporting.

This position offers the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast‑paced group of experts for a 6‑month contract to support the team in the Finance department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct variance analysis against the budget plan and updated forecast for the assigned region or department, identifying cost trends, savings opportunities, and efficiencies to support strategic financial decision‑making.
  • Support the coordination of annual budget preparation, ensuring the timely and accurate provision of financial data to support operational needs.
  • Collaborate with Managers and Supervisors to gather and analyze weekly and monthly budget forecast data, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial objectives.
  • Compile and deliver monthly financial reports for the Director and VP, ensuring accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and consistency in formatting aligned with regional budget coordinators.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of budget RC reports to verify accurate allocation of charges to the appropriate accounts, making corrections as necessary.
  • Track actual costs on budget line items, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliation statements and reviewing data to ensure accuracy and reasonability of transactions to the various Trans Mountain entities.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial analysis, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft D365 F&O and Office applications and IBM Planning Analytics systems is an asset.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
