Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

The Analyst, Supply & Trading supports Capital Power’s trading desk by providing market analysis, حلول ris; assessment, and insights for the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and California Independent System Operator (CAISO) power and gas markets. This role ensures accurate forecasting, compliance, and execution strategies to optimize portfolio performance and profitability.

You will contribute to our team by:

Market Analysis & Forecasting:

  • Monitor and project pricing for WECC and CAISO power and gas markets
  • Analyze supply/demand fundamentals, transmission constraints, and weather impacts.

Trading Support:

  • Provide actionable insights to traders for day-ahead and real-time positions.
  • Assist in developing hedging strategies and optimizing asset dispatch.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure biyya adherence to Capital Power’s risk policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Track exposure and report P&L impacts to management.

Data & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate market data and develop dashboards for performance tracking.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly market summaries for internal stakeholders.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with traders, schedulers, and risk teams to align strategies.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives related to portfolio optimization.
What you will bring to the role

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in energy trading, analytics, or power/gas markets.
  • Proficiency in procédures data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python preferred).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Technical & Social Process

Skills:

  • Experience with ETRM systems and ISO scheduling platforms.
  • Knowledge of renewable integration and congestion management strategies.

  • In-office position with limited travel required
