Sound Engineer – Canadian Badlands Passion Play (Drumheller)
The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is currently accepting applications for the Sound Engineer for the summer of 2012. The contract runs from May 10th to July 29th, 2012.
Responsibilities- Assemble the sound system at the beginning of the season, including moving gear, installing speakers, running cables, creating speaker placement, testing equipment, and maintaining upwards of 24 wireless microphones.
- Operate and mix live sound during rehearsals and performances, managing a stage the size of two football fields with a cue system for sound source movements.
- Coordinate with stage sound, sound assistant (one in booth, one backstage), composer, and directors to set sound levels and respond to directives.
- Ensure the system is powered on and off each day.
- Maintain detailed scripts and cue systems, take notes from composer and directors, and be adaptable to evolving duties.
The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is one of Canada’s largest outdoor theatrical events. Now in its 19th season, the company annually depicts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in dramatic form. This year’s production features a creative retelling of the Gospel of John and will involve a mixed professional/volunteer cast of approximately 200 actors in a 2700‑seat outdoor amphitheater.
