What’s The Team LikeOperating within the Real Estate portfolio, the Development Services team is led by a General Manager and currently includes five Development Coordinators, with additional support brought in as needed to meet workload demands. The team is responsible for coordinating and supporting tenant development and construction activities across both terminal and ground side environments, guiding third‑party projects through the Construction and Installation Permit process and coordinating technical reviews across the organization.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the team helps ensure projects meet airport standards, codes, and operational requirements while protecting Calgary Airports assets. Development Services is known for being a high‑performing, collaborative, and supportive team, operating within a relaxed and collegial environment supported by approachable leadership and strong working relationships.
What Are Some Of The Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee tenant development and construction projects from initiation through closeout across terminal and ground side environments.
- Conduct site feasibility assessments and development analysis for new projects, identifying constraints, infrastructure requirements, and potential impacts to airport assets.
- Guide third party projects through construction and installation permitting processes, ensuring alignment with airport standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and accept technical drawings, plans, specifications, and construction documentation across multiple disciplines (e.g., civil, electrical, mechanical, structural).
- Act as a primary point of coordination between tenants, consultants, contractors, and internal technical teams to resolve issues and support project progression.
- Lead and participate in project meetings, site reviews, and inspections, representing the interests of multiple internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and internal business owners to support capital project scoping, costing, scheduling, and integration with tenant work.

- 4 to 6 years of experience coordinating and/or managing construction projects.
- Post‑secondary diploma in a related field of study (Civil Engineering Technology, Project Coordination or Business Analysis). Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Demonstrated experience navigating permits, approvals, and technical review processes, such as development permits, building permits, construction approvals, or internal authorization workflows.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans (e.g., civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural) to support project review and coordination.
- Experience working within a landlord / tenant or asset owner environment, supporting third party development while balancing lease obligations, operational requirements, and asset protection considerations.
- Understanding of working relationships and their practices with external agencies such as City of Calgary, Rocky View County, Transport Canada and NAV Canada.
- Demonstrated experience providing guidance to tenants, consultants, or contractors throughout design and construction to support compliance with codes, standards, and approval conditions.
