We are looking for a technically skilled engineer to join our Corporate Energy & Emissions team. In this role, you will maintain and enhance site wide energy balance models, develop GHG quantification methodologies, and support energy and emissions applications for our upstream In‑Situ assets. You will also contribute to budgeting, compliance reporting, forecasting, and energy performance evaluations across our operations.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Applied Science
Three years of relevant experience in process engineering or operational roles within the oil sands or refinery industry
Knowledge of Alberta carbon regulations and policies (e.g., TIER)
Experience in energy management and optimization

Responsibilities
Continuously update and improve In Situ energy model calculations and logic, and develop new methodologies to reflect plant changes or new process configurations
Apply energy models for energy budgeting, business planning, and GHG emission forecasting
Provide technical support to In Situ operations on energy demand and supply, including conducting sensitivity studies and assessing potential risks
Maintain and update carbon compliance calculation methodologies for upstream facilities to ensure alignment with Alberta TIER requirements
Develop new GHG quantification methodologies to reflect changes in operational configurations or evolving regulatory standards
Support third‑party verification and audit processes related to GHG regulatory compliance
Collaborate with subject matter experts to assess the GHG and energy impacts of future projects and emerging technologies
Collect, validate, and manage GHG and energy data for base‑business facilities, ensuring accurate reporting in the Annual Report on Sustainability, Climate Report, and other external disclosures
Location and other Key details
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
This is an office-based role, hours of work are a regular 40‑hour work week, Monday to Friday with potential travel to sites
