Overview
Wood is currently recruiting for a Technical Director – Midstream Gas / Gas Processing to join its Oil, Gas & New Energies (OGNE) business in Canada, focusing on midstream gas facilities and gas processing projects. This opportunity is hybrid and will be based in Calgary, AB.
The RoleThis role provides strategic technical leadership across midstream gas and gas processing projects, ensuring engineering excellence, lean design approaches and operational efficiency. The Technical Director will drive innovation, best practices and technical consistency across projects, supporting successful execution from concept through delivery. While the primary focus will be gas plants, the role will also support upstream engagements including wellsites and gathering systems design.

- Technical Leadership:
Oversee engineering design, process optimization, and technical standards for gas plants. - Project Oversight:
Provide technical guidance on projects and pursuits. - Innovation & Optimization:
Identify opportunities for technical and project execution efficiency improvements and implement those opportunities. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with clients, internal teams, vendors, and fabricator/constructors to deliver high-quality solutions. - Team Development:
Mentor and develop engineering teams to maintain technical excellence.

Expected- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in Canadian gas processing and gas facilities engineering
- Extensive experience in the design, operation and maintenance of gas plants
- Proven technical leadership experience in senior technical or leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of Western Canadian regulatory frameworks and industry standards
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Currently registered or eligible for registration with APEGA
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Experience in upstream facilities including wellsites and gathering systems
- Registration with EGBC considered an asset
- Strong client-facing and business development experience
