Jr. Mechanical Designer

Our client is a national mechanical engineering firm with offices located in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton and Kelowna.

The company specializes in designing HVAC and plumbing Mechanical design for commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, and mixed-use high-rise projects.

Currently, they are seeking a Jr.
Mechanical Designer for their Calgary office as they expand and grow. This firm offers progressive career opportunities, a relaxed work environment and a variety of exciting and challenging projects. Please note, this is not a hybrid role and will require 5 days in office at their Calgary location.

• Placing and sizing of distribution systems and equipment following industry standards and
• Perform load calculations using the company-provided software.
• Selection of mechanical equipment working directly with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Preparation of schematic design, design development and construction documents in either AutoCAD or REVIT, and adhere to Reinbold Design Standards and Guidelines.
• Assist with Contract Administration, including shop drawing review, RFI responses and on-site review.
• May attend design and construction meetings with the client, other consultants and the contractors.

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering is an asset.
• 1-3 years of experience.
• Relevant industry experience in Canada is an asset
• Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing design is an asset
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, and air handlers. Ability to interpret construction drawings.
• Strong knowledge of current codes and standards, such as the local plumbing and local building codes.
• Experience using building heating and cooling load calculations.
• Understanding of software programs (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, REVIT).
