Parsons is seeking a Senior Water & Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Western Canada Water team.

Based in Calgary (hybrid options available), you will serve as a Senior Technical Engineer within the Western Canada Water & Wastewater Team, reporting to the Water & Wastewater Team Lead and supporting the successful delivery of municipal and industrial treatment and conveyance projects across the region and nationally. In this role, you will lead key process engineering initiatives, provide advanced technical oversight, coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces, and ensure regulatory compliance while aligning project outcomes with client objectives and overall team strategy throughout the project lifecycle.

You will play a critical role in delivering resilient, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions that enable communities to meet current regulatory requirements while preparing for future environmental and operational challenges.

Your Impact

Lead and deliver complex water and wastewater treatment projects from conceptual and preliminary design through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.

Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control philosophies, technical specifications, and comprehensive engineering reports.

Perform and oversee process modelling, hydraulic analysis, capacity evaluations, and optimization studies for municipal and industrial treatment systems.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and I&C) to deliver integrated, constructible, and cost-effective design solutions.

Prepare and review Class 1–3 cost estimates; contribute to risk assessments, value engineering initiatives, and constructability reviews.

Engage with clients, regulatory authorities, contractors, and key stakeholders to facilitate approvals, permitting, and successful project execution.

Provide technical oversight during procurement, shop drawing reviews, field inspections, commissioning, and start-up activities.

Mentor junior engineers and technologists, promoting technical excellence, quality assurance, and professional development within the team.

Support project management activities, including scope definition, schedule development, budget monitoring, resource planning, and risk management, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget in accordance with Parsons’ quality standards.

The Skills That Set You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.

Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.

10+ years of progressive experience in water and wastewater treatment and municipal infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of Canadian municipal and provincial regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, and environmental standards.

Experience with process and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., Bio Win, GPS-X, Water

CAD, Info Water, Sewer

CAD).

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, BIM platforms, and MS Office/Project.
