Job Description

In this position, you will lead civil design for airport projects while coordinating with specialists in airfield electrical, pavements, and airport planning. What you can expect to do here:
  • Lead and produce civil design for airfield and airport infrastructure, including grading, drainage, airside geometry, utilities, and site development.
  • Coordinate closely with design leads from other disciplines—airfield electrical, pavements, airport planning—to ensure cohesive and technically integrated project delivery.
  • Review design work and technical documents to ensure compliance with applicable aviation standards (e.g., TP312, FAA, ICAO) and WSP quality expectations.
  • Support project managers by contributing to design schedules, work plans, technical reviews, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Provide hands‑on technical design support, helping solve complex design issues and advancing project deliverables.
  • Mentor, train, and support junior and intermediate civil designers, fostering skill development and high‑quality production within the team.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews, client meetings, and coordination workshops.
  • Contribute to proposals, design briefs, reports, and presentations as needed.
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in civil design, preferably with significant exposure to airport or airfield engineering.
  • Strong technical skills in grading, drainage, utilities, and site development; experience with airfield layouts and geometric design is a strong asset.
  • Experience coordinating work with multiple design disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior and intermediate staff.
  • Proficiency with civil design software (e.g., Civil 3D, AviPLAN Pro) and strong understanding of CAD/BIM production workflows.
  • Familiarity with aviation standards such as Transport Canada TP312, FAA, and ICAO.
  • For engineers: P.Eng. licensure in Canada; for technologists:
    Canadian C.E.T. or

A.Sc.T. designation (or eligibility) is an asset.
