Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Geotechnical Practice Leader to lead the expansion of our Geotechnical discipline in Calgary, Canada
. This role oversees growth of a regional practice, client interaction and development, staff training and project leadership, and ensures technical excellence in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. You will drive growth of an established multi-disciplinary practice and contribute to the expansion and success of Langan’s Geotechnical Practice.

Responsibilities
  • Expand geotechnical services to existing clients, and leverage professional network and Langan''s brand and multidisciplinary capabilities to develop new clients;
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and review of work for staff;
  • Lead preparation of proposals, coordinating projects, managing clients and billings;
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports, specifications, construction plans, and geotechnical recommendations;
  • Perform and manage multiple projects within budgets, schedules, and deadlines; monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines;
  • Support excavation designs and Plaxis 3D analysis;
  • Manage log borings and observations during construction projects; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Master s degree in Geotechnical Engineering with a Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Professional Engineer licensure;
  • 15+ years related geotechnical experience;
  • Excellent leadership and the ability to build and mentor a team;
  • Strong business development capabilities with a relationship-focused approach and a robust network in the New England area;
  • Prior experience with geotechnical investigations and construction inspections;
  • Office experience with investigation and field coordination, geotechnical reports, and specification writing;
  • Field experience in earthwork, pile construction, load testing, subgrade and backfill inspection, ground improvements, retaining wall design and construction, and excavation support systems;
  • Software knowledge: gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, SHAKE;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment abilities;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; some field work required;
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
