- Participate in the design of plans, preliminary estimations and details for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects.
- Electrical design for building power distribution, fire alarm, grounding, lightning protection, emergency power and life safety generator systems.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance to the design team, be the design lead for their projects, and represent WSP to clients.
- Prepare calculations, conceptual and detailed design, technical specifications, installation details, and permit / tender / post‑tender services.
- Provide contract administration services—review shop drawings, RFIs, etc.—and work with Project Managers, senior engineers, designers, and 3D modelers to submit projects for permit and tender.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and registered P.Eng.
- 10–15 years of experience designing electrical systems for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects, including power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, fire protection, lightning protection, arc‑flash study, emergency power, and life safety.
- Complete understanding of building electrical engineering requirements, codes and standards, including but not limited to Ontario Building Codes (OBC), OESC, CEC, CSA, NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE, etc.
- Strong technical background to guide and mentor intermediate and junior engineers.
- Experience liaising with contractors to defend electrical designs.
- Ability to review and prepare installation details, provide technical calculations and specifications.
- Experience reviewing design and providing quality control for all design packages prior to submission.
