Why This Role?Our Building Science and Restoration Design Engineers (EIT) are active, engaged, and valued team members. You will learn from some of the industry’s leading engineers and gain onsite experience. With a mix of office, client and site visits, you will not be sitting at a desk all day! This role provides a strong technical foundation and exposure to all aspects of structural restoration, envelope and related building science.
RJC leads retrofits of existing buildings for energy, carbon emissions, and durability and is proactive in advancing industry standards. It is an exciting time at RJC and in our industry. We are committed to better performing buildings.
As an Engineer-in-Training at RJC Engineers, you will learn about engineering from a technical perspective, but you will also develop business acumen, teamwork and leadership skills.
Location:
Calgary, AB.
- Perform field work related to the assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Assist with report writing, contract document preparation and contract administration.
- Perform effectively in both an office and construction site environment.
- Work under the direction of a Project Engineer as a member of the project team, from conceptual and preliminary stage of project design to its completion.
- Conduct some structural design and analysis to determine effective repair alternatives.
- Coordinate with other engineering and architectural disciplines.
- Administer contracts/monitor construction while implementing restoration work.
- Maintain client liaison.
- Degree in Civil Engineering – Preference for candidates with completed courses in Building Science.
- Registered as an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) with APEGA.
- Able to conceptualize in three dimensions.
- A self-starter who learns quickly and works hard.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willing to work overtime at some odd hours as needed to meet site requirements.
- Team player with ability to work independently with minimum direction.
- Aptitude for working with existing facilities and comfortable working at heights.
- Valid driver’s license.
