We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer (Mechanical) in our Calgary location.
The largest city in Alberta, Calgary is known for its rich culture, amazing food scene and Rocky Mountains which provide ideal spots for skiing, snowboarding and other outdoor recreation. Summary Of ResponsibilitiesWorking under the direct supervision of the Major Pipeline Branch Manager, the Senior Engineer (Mechanical) will be responsible for performance and coordination of duties, including but not limited to the following:
Internal Facing Services- Lead engineering related tasks including but not limited to the development of isometrics plans, site plans, valve assembly plans, demolition drawings, bill of materials, hydrostatic test plans and reports, design basis memorandums, etc.
- Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, including support for construction activities.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
- Authenticate products as required.
- In conjunction with professional and technical staff, identify, establish, and maintain written procedures, process workflows, and training modules for technical office staff.
- Participate/lead monthly meetings including presentations on safety, department initiatives, administrative, and training topics.
- Review project related documentation, ensuring relevant documents are included and supplied to project teams.
- Review scope of work to ensure project team is adequately prepared for project execution.
- Adhere to company Quality Management System (QMS).
- Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, reports, cost estimates.
- Respond promptly to client requests for engineering and/or construction services.
- In conjunction with the project teams, work closely with the client to establish project requirements, project scope, timelines, job expectations and resource requirements.
- Liaise with project, construction, geotechnical, land, and environment stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of a project to ensure client service levels are met.
- Attend client meetings representing the company, as required.
- Participate in invoicing and cost reporting.
- Liaise with the branch manager to review performance and identify training opportunities.
- Leadership training and/or a willingness to further develop leadership skills through continuing professional development.
- Assist with the development of company procedures, calculation templates, with the aim of improving internal engineering systems.
- Provide mentorship and skill development for junior and intermediate staff.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from a recognized university or college.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Association of Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) would be considered an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of CSA Z662 and CSA Z245 is required.
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.8 and ASME B31.4.
- Working knowledge of OPR, and AER compliance considered an asset.
- 10+ years of industry experience in engineering, with midstream experience considered an asset.
- Meter and regulator station design is considered an asset.
- Liquid pipeline and pump station design is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Stress Engineering (Auto Pipe) considered an asset.
- Highly technical team member who will ensure they apply common engineering principles and concepts to their own project responsibilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including performing presentations, writing technical reports and external communications.
- Ability to coordinate and distribute work appropriately.
- Keenness to work in a high-volume team environment.
- Customer service oriented.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
