Intermediate Engineer - Community Development
Match Box Consulting Group is working with a well‑established consulting firm with a strong presence in land development and municipal infrastructure. Their Calgary‑based team works with private developers, municipalities, and other partners to deliver practical, well‑designed projects that support growing communities. Reporting to the Community Development Manager, this Civil Engineer role focuses on the design and delivery of community development and municipal infrastructure projects.
It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys hands‑on design work, collaborating with different stakeholders, and taking ownership of clear, buildable technical deliverables.
- Prepare detailed design, tender, and construction deliverables for community development and municipal infrastructure projects (greenfield and brownfield).
- Develop and refine design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Design site grading and servicing (water, sanitary, stormwater, shallow utilities, erosion and sediment control).
- Complete grading design, cut‑and‑fill, utility alignments/profiles, and flow calculations.
- Prepare technical documents, including site servicing drawings, construction drawings, servicing reports, and cost opinions.
- Support development applications such as subdivision drawings, Development Permits (DP), and Development Site Servicing Plans (DSSP).
- Coordinate with municipal approving authorities and project stakeholders to move projects forward.
- Collaborate with and support junior designers/technologists as needed.
- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
- Active P.Eng. designation (APEGA).
- 5+ years of experience in municipal and/or land development design.
- Proven experience producing design packages for community development or municipal infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu.
- Solid understanding of municipal design standards and land development processes.
- Experience preparing specifications and tender packages.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams, clients, and approving authorities.
- Experience working on both small and large‑scale projects.
- Interest in using new and emerging technologies (including AI) to enhance design work.
- Advanced expertise in grading design is an asset.
