This OpportunityThe Calgary office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking a Mechanical BIM Technician. You are qualified in contributing to the design of building services, such as HVAC, Plumbing & Drainage, and Fire Protection, and possess excellent Revit modelling skills. You are a team player who is highly motivated with great
communication skills. You will work under the direct supervision of a project engineer or designer and will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of projects including healthcare, commercial, residential, education, and many others.

™What You’ll DoModel and/or design mechanical systems, including heating and cooling piping, ventilation, plumbing, fire protection systems, and mechanical equipment. Prepare drawing packages, including plans, layouts, schematics, and detailed scale drawings in compliance with Smith + Andersen prototype standard drawing setup.Create and modify mechanical elements in a 3D Revit model based on sketches, mark-ups and/or designs as required by the project team to suit design requirements, consultant changes, scope changes and/or general updates.Have, or be able to develop, the ability to propose and implement routing and sizing recommendations for duct and piping systems.Review models against markups to ensure accuracy of work in the three dimensional model and resultant two-dimensional drawings.Collaborate/communicate with other disciplines’ design changes and model challenges.Identify and discuss interferences or space issues with the project team for resolution and change implementation. This may include three dimensional analysis using Revit or other software such as Navisworks.Prepare submissions for issuance, plotting and archives.Control and maintain models in an organized manner in the appropriate project directory system, per company standards.Adhere to office BIM standards and prototype standards, including the project BIM Execution Plan and Level of Development matrix.Layout mechanical equipment and identify clashes. When required, produce schematic drawings and identify sizing requirements.Review layouts of mechanical services for interferences with major building elements such as structure, ceilings, walls, etc.Generate Navisworks models.Any other BIM tasks required to assist in the completion of working drawings.Who You AreCollege diploma in Building Information Modelling Program (BIM), Architecture or…
