Senior Process Engineer – Water & Wastewater Group

WSP is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join the Water & Wastewater group, with office locations in Edmonton and Calgary. You will act as a senior design resource on local and national water and wastewater treatment projects in a variety of sectors including municipal and industrial, and will have opportunities to be involved in effluent reuse projects.

What you can expect to do here
  • Lead and collaborate with project managers on assessments, planning, and design of innovative water and wastewater infrastructure projects, shaping community well‑being and environmental stewardship.
  • Develop PFD, P&, and control narratives.
  • Deliver high‑quality designs, reports, and cost estimates with multidisciplinary teams while navigating approvals.
  • Engage with clients, sub‑consultants, and contractors to build strong professional relationships and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Design public sector municipal projects including treatment facilities, process works, civil works, force mains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, and feeder mains.
  • Work in design teams with senior, intermediate, and junior staff.
  • Support all construction phases, from fieldwork to contract administration, gaining hands‑on experience.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, condition assessments, and permit applications, driving project strategy.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technologists, fostering growth and technical excellence.
  • Liaise with municipal, utility, and approval agencies, maintaining client communications.
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Degree in civil, process, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or related field; eligible for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence in Canada.
  • 10–20 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Familiarity with municipal and provincial approval processes, permitting, and Alberta environmental standards.
  • Proven ability to design and manage both horizontal and vertical municipal infrastructure projects, including project management, contract administration, and client relationships.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard design and modelling software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM, Revit, Micro Station, Water

    CAD, Info Water, Sewer

    CAD, Bio Win, SUMO).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deliver innovative solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously in fast‑paced multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project for effective documentation, communication, and leadership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Resourceful, self‑motivated, and proactive mindset.
