OverviewReporting to the Technical & Project Manager – Western Canada, the Application Engineer will provide solutions for mechanical components and systems in various industrial sectors.
Responsibilities- Research, design and develop mechanical solutions for bearing, power transmission, and rotating equipment components and systems
- Perform detailed analysis and recommend mechanical systems such as gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, pumps, motors, and material handling equipment
- Produce fabrication and manufacturing drawings using CAD tools
- Oversee technical projects to ensure documentation and quality standards are met
- Help drive initiatives and results to achieve Technical Services priorities & targets
- Take ownership of solution development from concept to completion
- Stay up to date on technologies and seek opportunities to enhance Applied’s product and service offerings
- Review technical opportunities and take on as required
- Coach others in technology to advance their skills & knowledge
- Manage Applied’s engineering permits in 2 provinces
- Document value‑added services for customer solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Post‑secondary education in Mechanical Engineering
- P.Eng is a must
- 5‑10+ years experience providing mechanical solutions in industrial applications (oil & gas, agriculture, pulp, paper, forestry, mining, chemical processing, food processing, and aggregate customers)
- Knowledge of design and drafting (3D modelling) using Inventor 3D
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- MS Project knowledge is an asset
- Proven leadership and coaching skills
- Collaborative mindset with strong relationship building inside and outside the organization
- Ability to analyze situations, solve problems, assess risk and impact on projects
- Strong multitasking ability with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills at all business levels
- Willingness to travel (less than 25%)
