HVAC Engineer (12-18 month contract role)
Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a growing oil & gas facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise, is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a full-time permanent role as an HVAC Engineer. Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start‑up.
Our core service offering is in‑house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.
Responsibilities- Industrial building HVAC design and layout, especially for pump houses.
- Perform engineering calculations related to heating / cooling loads, pipe and duct sizing, pressure drops, thermal expansion, and support loads.
- Select piping and duct components and materials based on fluid service, pressure class, temperature, and corrosion considerations.
- Develop Industrial process P&IDs.
- Review and interpret P&IDs, equipment layouts, and utility drawings to support development of line routing, supports, and general arrangement plans.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design compatibility and resolve interface issues.
- Other tasks / responsibilities, as required.
- Required:
Possess a Mechanical Engineering degree. - Required:
P.Eng. in the province of Alberta. - Required:
10+ years’ related experience at an EPC, specifically oil and gas facility projects. - Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to review and approve work and write clear, technical reports.
- Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
- Highly organized with the ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of applicable provincial, federal and industry codes and regulations.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Excel and MS Outlook.
- Proficient knowledge of the English language, written and verbal.
- Must be a team player and a self‑starter.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients.
