OpportunityThe Operations Planning West team is seeking a Pipeline Maintenance Planner who will be responsible for pipeline outage planning and operational support for TC Energy’s NGTL and Foothills gas pipeline systems. This role will provide the opportunity to expand knowledge of the Canadian regulated pipeline business and the natural gas industry.
What you’ll doPlan, support, and optimize the operation of TC Energy’s dynamic gas pipeline system on the NGTL and Foothills gas pipeline systems
Act as an initial point of contact for internal stakeholders (such as Gas Control, Field Operations, Pipeline Integrity, Engineering, System Design, Commercial) for pipeline related matters
Collaborate and influence annual planned pipeline maintenance, inspections, outages, seasonal pipeline integrity dig programs, and operational derates
Collaborate with external stakeholders such as interconnecting pipelines, producers, and customers to plan and optimize pipeline outage and maintenance
Provide operational input and support for capital expansion projects, decommissioning, and abandonment work
Evaluate and determine pipeline blowdown strategies and support emissions compliance tracking
Provide direction, technical guidance, and support to Outage Coordination Engineers to execute pipeline maintenance activities
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide system guidance and support to Gas Control and other relevant stakeholders for emergency response purposes
Collaborate with other Area Leads in developing team members ability to complete independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions while driving consistency in approach
Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
Encourage and foster creativity and innovation
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Applied Science (or equivalent as recognized by provincial regulators)
Six or more years of progressive, relevant experience
Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer or Technologist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Working knowledge of gas pipeline hydraulics and the NGTL and Foothills transmission systems
Strong understanding of TC Energy’s pipeline integrity management program, processes, and purpose of various inline inspection tools
Understanding of pipeline construction design, techniques, and procedures
Experience with pipeline hydraulic simulation applications (Syner Gi Gas)
Strong planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making, and technical skills
Strong oral and written business communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence
Mature, self-motivated, and able to make independent decisions
Effective in a rapidly changing environment with changing priorities
Ability to lead, coach, and develop others
