Positions- Senior Engineer – Nitrogen West Operational Excellence – support operations in Redwater, Fort Saskatchewan, Carseland, Joffre, Kennewick, and Borger.
- Senior Engineer – Nitrogen East Operational Excellence – support operations in Lima, Augusta, and Geismar.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Nitrogen Opex, you will apply structured, evidence‑based decision‑making frameworks to guide high‑impact operational and strategic initiatives. Partnering with operations, engineering, finance, and corporate strategy teams, you will lead capital investment projects from concept through Final Investment Decision (FID), ensuring strategic alignment, rigorous risk assessment, and measurable performance improvements.
What You’ll Do- Apply Nutrien’s decision quality frameworks and rigorous analysis to guide complex operational and strategic decisions.
- Play a major role in shaping and executing enterprise‑level initiatives critical to Nutrien’s Nitrogen business, ensuring alignment with long‑term growth and competitive advantage.
- Partner with site teams and SMEs to develop, prepare, and assess investment projects (e.g., plant expansions, process improvements) and steward them through the approval process.
- Build strong partnerships across Operations, Commercial, Corporate Strategy, and Finance to align priorities, share insights, and drive coordinated execution of improvement projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred, or related discipline).
- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing environments, ideally in chemical/process industries or fertilizer production. Proven track record in operational excellence, process optimization, and capital project management.
- P.Eng. registration or eligibility preferred. Additional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, MBA, or CFA considered assets.
