Intermediate Hydrogeologist and Field Lead
Job Overview
Lead transformative projects that shape the future of water resource management. In this role, you will drive ERM’s hydrogeology business in Canada and oversee complex groundwater field programs for mining and oil & gas clients, ensuring technical excellence and client success across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate groundwater field programs, including drilling, well installation, and multi‑year monitoring.
- Supervise field teams and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Collect and analyze aquifer data using industry‑standard methodologies (slug, step‑drawdown, constant‑rate pumping tests).
- Prepare technical reports, proposals and presentations in collaboration with senior hydro geologists.
- Support business development through proposal preparation and client engagement.
- Collaborate with ERM’s global water resources team to share knowledge and deliver integrated solutions.
Required
- . in Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Engineering or related field with strong academic credentials in physical and contaminant hydrogeology (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of consulting experience in hydrogeology field work, groundwater data planning, analysis and reporting.
- Eligibility for E.I.T./G.I.T. or a professional designation in a Canadian jurisdiction.
- Proven ability to lead field programs, including drilling, well installation, aquifer testing and groundwater sampling.
- Skill in QA/QC of field data and analysis using AQTESOLV Aquifer Test Pro and Surfer.
- Strong understanding of hydrogeological processes in mining, oil & gas and industrial contexts.
- Excellent communication, leadership and client relationship‑building skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%).
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to operate a company vehicle.
- This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred
- 4+ years of consulting experience.
- Familiarity with MODFLOW and/or FEFLOW.
Base Salary: $73,609 – $83,047 CAD (range may vary by education, experience, skills, location and performance). Bonus pay may be available for eligible employees.
