Responsibilities
Design and Project CoordinationAssist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of bridges, culverts and other transportation structures.Assist project managers and engineers in the design and construction of industrial and/or building projects.Prepare documents including construction drawings, contract specifications, calculations, and quantity take off estimates.Liaise with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, architects and technical and administrative support staff.Perform field work for structural assessments, periodic site inspections during construction, construction observation, as well as preparation of follow up reporting.Review and respond to shop drawings and submittals during construction activitiesBusiness DevelopmentProvide quality client services, with particular emphasis on government and infrastructure contractor clients within the transportation marketContribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation (initiation and submission), reports and presentations, and client liaison.Business travel upon requestLearning & DevelopmentCommit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.Qualifications
A degree in civil engineering. Graduate level degree would be an assetLicensed to practice as a structural engineerMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in bridge designExperience
Proficient in the full range of design activities, including preparation of preliminary and detail design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tenderingExperienced in the design of various bridge types, culverts and other transportation structuresProficiency in the use of computer modeling techniques using SAP
2000, CSiBridge, or STAAD and familiarity with current AutoCAD softwareStrong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communicationProficient technical report and specification writing skillsExperience in construction contract administration would be an assetExperience with bridge maintenance and rehabilitation is an assetExperience with projects delivered for the City of Calgary and Alberta Transportation is an assetWhy Choose Dillon
