Principal Project Engineer Highways

Overview

Mott Mac Donald is seeking a Civil/Transportation Technical Principal to support clients across Canada from our Calgary office. The individual will lead and deliver a variety of highway, transportation, and civil municipal projects. You will engage with transportation clients in the public transportation sector, including the province, contractors, and local municipalities, to develop strong working relationships and deliver multi-modal transportation assignments including highways, municipal roadways, and active transportation infrastructure.

• Provide technical leadership in the delivery of preliminary and detailed design development of transportation projects in rural and urban environments. Projects include highways, roadways, transit, active transportation, site grading and drainage.
• Oversee design development according to TAC standards and municipal standards; deliver packages of work as Engineer-of-Record with the assistance of other technical and production staff.
• Engage as part of large multi-disciplinary design teams for civil transportation projects; review design documents for consistency and coordination.
• Develop quantity take-offs, design criteria, and design reports across stages from preliminary to detailed design.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, technicians, and technologists.
• Assist in the project proposal process as required.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders in ongoing support to the business plan.

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and registered Professional Engineer
• 15+ years of civil, roadway and highway design experience; minimum 5 years in Canada for public and private sector clients
• Good working knowledge of Provincial and TAC design standards
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain working relationships with business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients
