Position OverviewThe PJ Library Coordinator plays a key role in the delivery, growth, and day-to-day execution of PJ Library in Calgary. This position is ideal for a highly organized, people-oriented individual who is passionate about Jewish life, family engagement, and creating exceptional experiences for young families.
The coordinator ensures programs run smoothly, families feel connected and supported, and PJ Library continues to be a warm and welcoming entry point into Jewish community life.
This part-time (25 to 30 hours per week) role includes regular evening and weekend hours to support family programming and community events. Flexibility in scheduling is provided to balance these hours.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and deliver a monthly calendar of PJ Library programming for families from newborn through tween years, including PJ Library, Shalom Baby, Tot Shabbat, and PJ Our Way.
- Serve as a welcoming point of contact for PJ Library families, fostering ongoing engagement and connection to Jewish life and community.
- Conduct outreach to families welcoming a new baby, including Shalom Baby gift delivery, PJ Library registration support, and baby-focused programming.
- Manage all program communications, including the monthly newsletter, promotional materials, and social media engagement in collaboration with our marketing department.
- Manage PJ Library administrative and operational processes, including databases, registrations, subscriptions, reporting, invoicing, and coordination with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
- Track participation and support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Represent PJ Library at programs, events, and community initiatives as required.
- Collaborate with CJF, JCC, and community partners as part of the Engagement Team, and support cross-departmental initiatives as needed.
- Intimate understanding of the needs of Calgary’s young Jewish families.
- Experience in thematic programming.
- Warm and welcoming demeanor, positive attitude.
- Extensive knowledge of Jewish holidays and traditions, including kashrut and general theology.
- Experience working with preschool and elementary aged children.
- Pluralistic approach to Jewish engagement.
- Open to working Sundays and evenings, as required.
