The Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Fellowship Development Coordinator position. This full‑time fixed‑term role is for approximately nine months (based on grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Fellowship Development Coordinator reports directly to the Manager, Grant Development, and is part of the team supporting post‑doctoral scholars in applying for fellowships and grants. The incumbent administers the CSM Post‑Doctoral Fellowship competition and supports the AIMS Postdoctoral Fellowship competition.

The coordinator works with the team to develop and provide information sessions and workshops for post‑doctoral researchers. In collaboration with the Manager and team, the coordinator is responsible for developing resources related to onboarding postdocs with research funding and for providing day‑of support for events focused on post‑doctoral researchers in the Cumming School of Medicine.

Summary of

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure information on new post‑doctoral researchers is shared in a timely manner.
  • Develop and provide resources and tools for recruits related to external funding and fellowships.
  • Administer internal funding programs targeted to post‑doctoral researchers.
  • In partnership with the Fellowship Development Officer, develop and host seminars, information sessions, and workshops focused on skill development and education for fellowship and grant funding.
  • Expand the internal peer review process and resources, including potential mock peer review opportunities, for applicants to external fellowship competitions.
  • Network and plan events and logistics targeted to postdocs to build a strong community across the faculty.
  • Work closely with stakeholders within and outside the faculty to ensure postdocs receive the support they need to achieve funding goals.
  • Attend postdoc events across the university to network and build a foundational knowledge of all offices and units involved in supporting post‑doctoral researchers.
  • Provide navigational support and information to postdocs, faculty, and staff that reach out to the office.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to achieve increased funding success for postdoctoral researchers within CSM.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; postgraduate training in a related area is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience working with post‑doctoral researchers.
  • Minimum of one to two years of related experience in academic health research.
  • Ability to give effective presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of the University of Calgary research landscape and research administrative units is given priority.
  • Program planning experience required.
  • Proven mastery of English grammar; excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, act decisively, exercise initiative and judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team, adapting to multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
