University of Calgary Continuing Education (Cont Ed) is currently recruiting Creative Technology Instructors (contract (term) position) to teach Online and/or Classroom (in‑person) at the Downtown campus for the following courses in the Technology Programs in Fall 2026, Winter/Spring/Summer 2027.
In support of the University of Calgary's core principles and financial objectives, Continuing Education is an academic unit with a mandate to respond to the needs of the community through the design, development and delivery of high‑quality lifelong learning opportunities.
Each year, Cont Ed serves over 20,000 adult learners and offers more than one thousand courses taught by hundreds of instructors— all experts in their fields. It is expected to fund, through revenue generation, the majority of its operational costs while contributing financially to the university.
The success of University of Calgary Continuing Education in meeting its business target in a competitive environment is dependent upon effectively serving students and by providing high‑quality instruction and programs.
Position DescriptionThese instructional positions are non‑credit teaching appointments and, as such, are contract positions without benefits (other than those required by Employment Standards).

We are also seeking instructors with strong, real‑world experience in creative industries who are interested in developing and teaching project‑based courses that integrate AI tools into practical design workflows in the following areas:
- AI‑Driven 3D & Product Innovation – Designing web, mobile, and physical products using generative 3D tools such as Luma AI and Meshy.
AI for rapid concept development and prototyping - AI‑Powered Media, Interaction & Storytelling – Creating video, animation, audio, and interactive content for apps and digital platforms using tools like Runway, Kling AI, Suno, and Udio
- AI‑Enhanced Branding & Visual Systems – Developing graphics, UI visuals, marketing assets, and generative design workflows using tools like Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, DALL‑E, Stable Diffusion, Canva, and ComfyUI
- AI for Creative Product Development & Entrepreneurship – AI‑assisted ideation, storyboarding, pre‑production, and integrated workflows to bring digital or physical products to market
- Create effective lesson plans, develop content, learning activities, presentations, assignments, and evaluations.
- Utilize Desire2
Learn (D2L) for all course materials and student communication. - Utilize Zoom to facilitate any synchronous live sessions with activities.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry work experience in the field as well as education such as industry certifications and/or academic qualification.
- Adult learning certificate or equivalent is an asset.
- Previous teaching experience is essential; post‑secondary teaching experience is preferred. Remote teaching experience is highly valued. High school educators are also welcome.
- Previous experience utilizing Learning Management Systems such as Desire2
Learn, Zoom, Blackboard or Moodle, is preferred.
