Foothills School Division is seeking two full-time Educational Assistants to join a team of one teacher and two educational assistants focused on supporting classroom complexity at Sptizee School. This team will work, under the direction of the principal to collaboratively address academic, behavioural, and social-emotional challenges within increasingly complex learning environments. These roles focus on supporting the teacher to deliver targeted instruction, inclusive practices, and individualized supports that enable classroom teachers to focus on high-quality teaching and learning.
Full time hours follow the school year calendar Monday to Thursday and scheduled Fridays. Weekly hours are approximately 32.5 hours.
The successful candidates will have the ability to work with minimal supervision under the direction of the classroom complexity teacher and learning coach. They will provide flexible support to students/children according to their changing needs and to facilitate and encourage independence in all areas of student/child development. The ideal candidates will demonstrate adaptability, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to fostering safe, supportive, and engaging learning environments.
The Education Assistants will establish effective working relationships with teachers, parents and the community. A strong background and expertise working with students with a wide range of physical, cognitive, social and emotional differences including:
Experience working with students with complex needs that includes collaboration with educational support teams and therapists, such as SLP, OT, and Behavioral Consultants is an asset. Preferred applicants will have a Educational Assistant Certificate.
Pay Grid Level I - High School Diploma
Pay Grid Level II (Certified) - Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma, or a High School Diploma and the equivalent of a minimum of one (1) year of full-time post secondary course study
