What is the opportunityThe Instructional Designer will apply best practices in learning and development to conduct the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of interactive health and safety and technical training courses for the oil and gas industry. Course formats include self‑study eLearning, virtual classroom, instructor‑led classroom, and blended instruction.
What will you do- Identify training needs and define learning objectives for new and existing programs based on stakeholder engagement, legislation, and applicable data.
- Use Instructional Design methods to design and develop instructor‑led, eLearning and blended course content.
- Develop criteria (practical assessments, exams) to effectively assess learning objectives.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and cross‑functional project teams to develop and implement training programs and materials.
- Research and apply learning best practices to streamline processes and advance the effectiveness of training materials.
- Other duties as required.
- Post‑secondary education in instructional design, adult education, educational technology, educational psychology, or related field. (M.Ed. or equivalent preferred)
- 3+ years’ experience in instructional design and development of eLearning, instructor‑led and blended training programs in corporate or industrial settings.
- Experience conducting training needs analysis and identifying learning objectives.
- Experience working with a learning management system (Brightspace preferred).
- Experience using various multimedia development products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and eLearning authoring applications.
- Extensive knowledge of instructional design methodology and ADDIE to create effective eLearning and classroom training experiences.
- Working knowledge of Brightspace LMS.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Goal oriented and able to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
