About us:

This is a unique opportunity in a start‑up program created by an AMI Montessori educator/Alberta certified teacher and a group of dedicated parents. There six children, ages 3 to 6, in this Casa environment, led by one teacher. The classroom is set up in a beautiful heritage home in Mission, Downtown Calgary Alberta. Juniper Montessori is committed to the AMI principles of Montessori to create a warm and nurturing environment that promotes lifelong learning.

Due to the small group, art is explored more deeply, as well as outdoor education. We also have a full kitchen with baking supplies and all of the tools for snack preparation and other food prep activities. This really makes it feel like home!

Summary of the Role:

The Casa Guide will lead a prepared Montessori environment for a small group of children ages 3 through
6. This role involves preparing the environment in advance, presenting materials, observing children’s progress and making adjustments based on individual and group needs. Building a relationship with families is an important aspect of this job as well as creating a peaceful space for children to explore their independence.

Requirements and Responsibilities:
  • 7.5 hour days with the children full-time, 8:30am to 4pm.
  • Quiet time for an hour, to ensure a teacher break
  • Giving montessori lessons with the materials and record keeping
  • Ongoing communication with the parents regarding the children’s learning process
  • Connecting and collaborating with parents, as partners, about school operations
  • Daily clean up (spray tables, dishes and sweep floors). A cleaner comes bi- monthly for deep cleans
  • Ability to run the program on your own, including purchasing materials, supplies and food for snack time
  • An hour of outdoor time each day
  • Prepare art projects and music time
Qualifications:
  • Certified AMI or MACTE-trained Montessori teacher
  • Experience working in a Montessori environment (practicum experience accepted)
  • Commitment to a 3-month contact, with an opening for extension to the following September
  • First Aid and CPR trained (up to date)
  • Warm, kind and caring personality
  • $28/hr
  • 37.5 hours a week
  • Monday through Friday
  • April, May and June 2026
  • Opportunity for extension to the next school year
