About the Role

MRU Camps is looking for enthusiastic individuals to share their knowledge, passion, and expertise with children and youth in Sports, Recreation, Fitness, and Outdoor Leadership. Under the supervision of the Sports & Outdoor Education Supervisor, the instructor will deliver lessons and lead campers through a variety of activities such as crafts, sports, and games. Additional responsibilities include completing required administrative duties and maintaining professional, cooperative relationships with staff, campers and parents.

Camp instructors will work closely with Camp Leaders and Volunteers.

These are casual positions ending 28 August 2026. Hours are 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Instructors must be available for all 9 weeks of employment (29 June – 28 August 2026) and orientation week (22‑26 June 2026).

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and modify program lessons and activities.
  • Ensure safety, well‑being, and enjoyment of campers aged 4‑15.
  • Make accommodations for campers with varying learning needs.
  • Collaborate with co‑leaders and instructors to deliver daily programs.
  • Assist camp leaders with recreational and classroom activities.
  • Supervise and coordinate lunchtime, before and after care.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as camper registration, incident reports, and attendance.
  • Attend staff orientation and any necessary staff meetings.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about their child’s experience at camp.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a childcare/educational setting delivering lesson plans and curriculum.
  • Experience working or volunteering in camp or recreational activities is an asset.
  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation is an asset.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Passion for Health and Physical Literacy, Sports, Recreation, Outdoor Leadership, or coaching/teaching.
  • Must be available for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 29 June – 28 August 2026.
  • Must be available for mandatory staff training 22‑26 June 2026.
Requirements Prior to Commencement
  • Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (valid within 1 year).
  • Standard First Aid (valid within 2 years) and CPR Level C (valid within 1 year).
Salary

$18.00 per hour.
