We are currently seeking a Senior Technologist to join our Calgary Studio to work on some of the most prominent projects across Western Canada.
Job SummaryThe Senior Architectural Technologist is a senior technical leader who develops and coordinates detailed design and construction documentation for complex architectural projects. This role engages directly with clients, consultants, and authorities, supporting the full lifecycle of a project and contributing to the technical leadership of the studio.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign + Documentation
- Lead the development of detailed construction and permit documents.
- Translate design concepts into comprehensive design development and contract documentation.
- Conduct advanced technical research and lead detailing development across project phases.
- Review and ensure compliance with building codes, bylaws, and QA/QC standards.
Project Support + Coordination
- Manage project execution from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, scope definition, resourcing, and profitability.
- Establish and adhere to office expectations for financial performance, staffing efficiency, and project milestones.
- Lead regular internal project meetings and communicate status updates to Operations and the Partner-in-Charge, at a minimum monthly.
- Coordinate and oversee project activities, ensuring alignment with office Project Delivery processes, filing systems, and documentation standards.
- Provide project status updates to the Partner in Charge or Project Manager.
- Coordinate with subconsultants and lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts.
- Liaise with clients, municipal officials, and regulatory agencies.
- Attend site meetings and perform shop drawing reviews and contract administration duties.
- Ensure all work aligns with the firm’s Project Delivery standards, including proper use of filing systems, adherence to architectural procedures, and compliance with drawing and documentation protocols.
Team + Culture
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.
- Promote high standards of professionalism, accountability, and quality.
- Lead by example in aligning with the firm’s project delivery practices, standards, and values.
- Actively contributes to the technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Able to work in a collaborative, in-office environment (100% in-office presence required to support direct team engagement and effective cross-functional coordination).
Qualifications
- Architectural Technologist Diploma or related discipline from a recognized institution.
- 5–10 years of experience in an architectural office.
- Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with Revizto, Bluebeam, Sketch Up, and Navisworks is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of construction systems, detailing, and code compliance.
- Effective communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and contribute to project delivery goals.
