Reporting to the Director of Construction & Workforce Planning, the Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing our team, planning, scheduling, coordinating and directing all aspects of the mechanical project installation.
Specifically, the Mechanical Superintendent will ensure the on‑site coordination for all phases of the project, including coordinating subcontractors, materials and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Mechanical Superintendent shall also ensure that all scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety procedures are conducted in accordance with policy.
Specifically, the Superintendent will:Provide on‑site coordination for all phases of the project, including coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are strictly followed and work proceeds on schedule and within budget.
- Lead by example; working alongside, supervising and directing the site team.
- Develop short‑term and long‑term schedules in collaboration with the Director of Construction & Construction Manager.
- Plan and schedule tasks for the Site Foreperson and Journey people
- Establish standard site work hours
- Help eliminate job site clutter and over ordering from the shop
- In partnership with the Construction Manager, develop a thorough understanding of the project scope by reviewing documentation for consistency and issuing RFIs as required.
- In partnership with the Construction Manager, develop and enforce the project‑specific health and safety policy.
- In partnership with the Construction Manager, develop and enforce the project‑specific QAQC program.
- Order materials and equipment to suit the site installation.
- Coordinate with the shop and PMP modellers for site‑required items.
- Direct and monitor sub‑trade works to ensure the installation is in line with the project documents.
- Monitor and report on‑site installation to ensure activities are in line with the project schedule, adjusting the team and/or tasks as required.
- Performing other duties as required.
