The Coating Inspector is the Company’s authorized representative and is to observe the Contractor’s progress and inspect all coating and painting activities in his/her assigned areas in accordance with Company drawings, plans, specifications and the terms of the construction contract or agreement.
The Coating Inspector will:
• Using stop work authority, immediately stop work activity, and notify Contractor supervision of unsafe conditions and/or acts and ensure all site personnel are aware of their obligation to do so as well.
• Ensure that the contractor is implementing their Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Review and understand contractor Safe Work Practices & Job Safety/Hazard Analysis for the work they are assigned to oversee and hold contractor accountable to execute the work to the per the procedures. This includes participation in daily tailgate/tailboard meetings and field level hazard assessments (FLHA).
• Oversee the painting and/or coating crew to ensure compliance (, drawings, specifications, codes, standards, regulations, contractors’ site-specific quality plan/contract).
• Ensure ITPs are completed, submitted, reviewed, and accepted by The Client prior to the start of the work.
• Review and sign the contractor’s quality control records to verify compliance to Company standards and qualifications.
• Work with the contractor to ensure that stakeholder and local community commitments within their scope are tracked and implemented.
• Work with the contractor to ensure that The Client painting and/or coating specification requirements are implemented.
• Ensure that all painting and/or coating personnel hold the appropriate Operator Qualification(s) (OpQual) for the work they are completing (US only).
• Ensure that all coating personnel hold valid certificates from the painting and/or coating manufacturer .
• Create and foster a positive work environment and a proactive/mature safety culture with the inspection staff.
• Monitor painting and/or coating work and as required influence corrective action with the Contractor or inspection staff.
• Identify construction painting and/or coating and/or safety non-conformance issues and report to Construction Manager.
• Provide technical leadership, expertise, and guidance to the project personnel.
• Participate in incident investigations. Complete records management associated with construction painting and/or coating documentation.
• Identify innovation and value creation opportunities related to construction painting and/or coating aspects.
• Participate in lessons learned, close-out meeting(s).
• Participate in site safety and quality walk downs and note any discrepancies.
• Complete the daily inspection reports in accordance with applicable Company Inspection Standards.
