Van Driver; Daycare

Active Start Childcare i s a distinguished early learning institution serving children from 12 months through kindergarten. Please note this is a Casual (on-call) role. There are no guaranteed hours and Directors will reach out to employees to cover shifts depending on the needs of the centre. This role provides an opportunity to have more hours in a classroom (in addition to driving hours) for employees who have an ECE level.

We are currently looking for a Van Driver for our Out of School Care program. We are looking for someone that has had prior experience driving a school or daycare bus, or a daycare van. Someone with their Level 1, 2, or 3 Alberta Child Care Certification or willingness to obtain it . A successful candidate would have good driving skills, experience driving children and a clean driver’s abstract.

This person must be highly motivated, adaptable, and fluent in English. A successful candidate would display professionalism and be responsible, as well as work well with children. This person must have a current criminal record check and first aid certification or be willing to obtain these items upon being hired.

• Driving groups of children to and from school throughout the day,
• Supervising during pick-ups and drop-offs,
• Actively engaging with and supervising school age children during field trips and at the centre,
• Following the Alberta Early Learning and Childcare regulations, as well as Active Start’s policies.
• Actively supervising and engaging with children of all ages at the centre, while ensuring their well-being.
• Cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

• A Class 4 driver’s license to drive the van
• Prior childcare/daycare experience is an asset
• Level 1, 2 or 3 Child Care Certification is a must
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Professional, adaptable, and fluent in English
• Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations (preferred)
