Job Title: Camp Nurse/First Aid Attendant
Based at: Camp Hope
Reports to: Camp Program Coordinator
Hours of work: 4 Month Paid Position – May to August
Compensation: $15/hr (40hrs/week) + Room and Board included
* Start date: May 5th, 2025
Contract Position: ending August 22nd, 2025

OUR FACILITY
Camp Hope is located on 100 acres of forest 20 minutes west of Calgary along the Elbow River. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-17. Activities include archery, obstacle courses, bike trails, survival guides, wide games, and more!

JOB SUMMARY
As a Camp Nurse/First Aid Attendant, you’ll be essential to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff throughout their camp experience. Your responsibilities will include providing medical care, supervision, and support for any health-related needs, from treating minor injuries to managing medications. You’ll also offer health education to encourage good hygiene and prevent common camp illnesses. In addition to daily health checks, you’ll manage the camp’s First Aid Station, keeping it stocked and organized.

This role allows you to build meaningful connections as a trusted caregiver and mentor, helping create a safe and enjoyable environment for all at camp.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate records of camper medications and all treatment given/medications administered

Administer medication for campers and staff

Monitor hygiene aspects of camp

Monitor cleanliness and health of campers and staff

Communicate with parents

Care for sick or injured campers and staff

Participate in camp activities, including chapel, when time allows

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum of a completed second year of nursing training – an asset

Love for underprivileged kids

Enjoyment of the outdoors

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis

Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset

Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures

* All staff who complete the full 7 weeks of camp and 2 weeks of training receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the summer.
