About the Role

Mistral Venture Partners is looking for the right person to join our investment team. You will contribute to all aspects of early‑stage investing, from finding amazing founders to helping with the operational requirements of an established venture capital firm. You’ll work closely with the partners on market research, deal sourcing, founder meetings, investment memos, due diligence, and portfolio support, while also helping to refine our internal processes and overall operational strategy.

You'll operate coast to coast out of Calgary, representing Mistral on the ground, sourcing high‑quality opportunities, and contributing to the Alberta ecosystem as a whole.

Your Core Responsibilities

• Support the full lifecycle of our investment process, including deal sourcing, diligence, market analysis, founder meetings, KPI tracking, and portfolio support.
• Support in the production of collateral for the portfolio and prospective investments.
• Ensure that all investment materials, data, and workflows are accurately collected and remain in full compliance with Mistral’s investment processes and standards.

• Support fund reporting, helping collect and organize portfolio data.
• Contribute to partner meeting materials, portfolio summaries, and portfolio KPI’s.
• Assist with general operational tasks, including investor portal updates, event coordination, and other projects that support the smooth running of the fund.
• Help manage our podcast workflow by coordinating guests, preparing research, and organizing episode logistics.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with company founders, incubators, accelerators, universities, angels, and co‑investors.
• Attend and represent Mistral at startup events, demo days, conferences, and community gatherings.
• Support the venture community by connecting stakeholders to the Mistral network.

Ideal Experience

• Early‑stage startup experience is a huge asset (as an operator, founder, early hire, or comparable experience in the zero‑to‑one stage).
• Academic background in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related analytical discipline is preferred.
• Strong analytical and research skills with fluency in digital office tools.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments, with a self‑starter disposition.
• Strong relationship‑building and communication skills, with the maturity to represent Mistral with founders, investors and other ecosystem players.
• Organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to maintain clean data, documentation, and internal processes.

Compensation - Location - Start Date

• Compensation aligned with experience and qualifications.
• This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta.
