The Advanced Projects and Traffic Office (APTO) is a branch within the ACPS that consolidates Provincial Prosecutors with the Advanced Project teams. The purpose of this branch is to increase justice system capacity, improve regulatory enforcement, and improve overall access to justice. The APTO is also dedicated to enhancing current traffic court operations by providing consistent and dedicated management that can be applied to provincial prosecutors across the province.
By consolidating with the new advanced project team, new and innovative technology can be applied seamlessly across the province.

The Advance Projects and Traffic Office has an exciting opportunity for you to join their team as a Legal Assistant
.
As a Legal Assistant your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide administrative support to Provincial Prosecutors in the Traffic Unit, ensuring files, court materials, and documentation are prepared and managed efficiently.
- Manage and organize traffic prosecution files, including opening, endorsing, reviewing, and maintaining files in accordance with office procedures and records management standards.
- Utilize justice information systems such as JOIN to verify court dates, assigned prosecutors, and courtroom details, and ROADS to process driver’s abstracts.
- Access and retrieve police reports and related documentation for reviewing, printing or filing.
- Prepare court materials, including retrieving files for the Crown, assembling pre-dockets and dockets, and supporting daily court runs for Traffic Court.
- Review and vet files for disclosure, ensuring all relevant documentation is complete and preparing disclosure packages for distribution through the Document Service Centre.
- Draft and process correspondence and court-related documentation while ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
- Track and manage disclosure requests and additional disclosure documentation using internal systems and tracking tools.
- Monitor shared email inboxes and respond to disclosure inquiries and traffic-related requests from stakeholders.
- Support general office operations, including managing supply inventory, coordinating equipment servicing, and contributing to effective information sharing within the Crown Prosecutors’ Office.
