Position: Summer Student - Building and Grounds Maintenance Assistant (4 months)
Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Summer Student to join our team as Facilities & Office Services Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician to work in our Calgary location on a full-time basis from May to August 2026. This front-line role will provide direct support to the Building Operator as well provide a variety of services to other Spartan Business Units, on behalf of the Facilities & Office Services team.
Your positive ‘can-do’ work ethic combined with strong communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to work effectively with internal and external customers.
Role and Responsibilities
Perform minor repairs on walls, windows, doors, switches, desks, tables, plugs, equipment, appliances, sinks, toilets, blinds etc.Perform regular property inspections and routine maintenance activities (including changing light bulbs/ceiling tiles)Organize and file building drawingsAssist in maintaining outside groundsAssist with the set-up of meeting rooms for meetings, events, or various other activities and clean-up/dismantle afterwardsAssist with various Office Services duties, on an as-required basis, including but not limited to:Office moves (including office furniture assembly)Provide back-up to other areas of Office Services, as requiredAssist with maintaining inventory and suppliesFollow all safety guidelines (including wearing the proper PPE)Provide temporary back-up for any other Facilities and Office Services positions, as requiredQualifications and Skills
Minimum High School DiplomaCurrently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to building systems (plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, power engineering)Mechanically inclinedBasic knowledge in the areas of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical would be an assetExceptional customer service practicesComputer application knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)Strong customer focus; professional and pleasantHigh degree of discretion and confidentialityWilling and able to perform physically demanding work (capable of lifting 35 lbs.)Spartan is committed to providing a safe workplace for all employees.
