The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the industry‑funded regulator responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It fosters a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and protects investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.

Overview

The Enforcement Division enforces Alberta securities laws by investigating, disrupting and prosecuting breaches of those laws with an eye for preventing and stopping current and future misconduct. This position will provide comprehensive senior‑level administrative support to the Director, Enforcement, the Associate Director, Enforcement, two Senior Enforcement Counsels and the Manager, Enforcement Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively manage and prioritize calendars, resolve scheduling conflicts, ensure the team is fully prepared for meetings and presentations with appropriate materials, and stay on track with daily schedules.
  • Manage all incoming requests, prepare correspondence, and ensure all correspondence and orders for review and signature adhere to ASC standards.
  • Coordinate various meetings and working sessions with both internal and external parties.
  • Draft, edit and proofread correspondence, agendas, presentations, reports and other materials with minimal supervision, requiring an understanding of applicable legal terminology and statutory obligations.
  • Prepare relevant reports, statistics and complex spreadsheets for inclusion in reporting for the director’s review.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support ranging from complex to routine tasks such as drafting correspondence, electronic file management, meeting and travel coordination, and other duties as assigned.
  • Recommend administrative practices to create efficiencies, enhance training and consistency, and reduce risk.
  • Utilize a high degree of professionalism and initiative to anticipate and meet the needs of the team.
The Ideal Candidate
  • A legal assistant or recognized administrative assistant diploma or certificate, or equivalent experience.
  • A business‑related degree, or equivalent considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive administrative experience in a fast‑paced, demanding professional environment supporting multiple individuals or groups; at least four of those years supporting senior management.
  • Advanced computer skills; particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, SharePoint and Visio.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated organization skills and proficiency in prioritizing multiple demands, with the ability to be highly adaptable and responsive to changing priorities.
  • Proactive problem identification, analysis and resolution capabilities.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
Note

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Police Information Check with results satisfactory to the ASC prior to commencement of employment.
