The RoleReporting to the Bookkeeping Manager, the Senior Bookkeeper plays a key role in the growth of Summit Path and in delivering a high-trust client experience. You will own client relationships, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain accurate, meaningful financial records for multiple clients.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Calgary, with three days per week in-office and two days remote. The role is 40 hours per week with no overtime expectations.
What You’ll Do- Client Onboarding & Process Improvement
- Assess each client’s bookkeeping needs (A/R, A/P, payroll, GST, etc.)
- Document existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Build client-specific workflows and integrate them into Summit Path’s systems
- Clean up and correct opening balances
- Set up and optimize charts of accounts
- Support and train transitioning bookkeepers on client systems and workflows
- Maintain accounts receivable and payable
- Perform month-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Review income statements and identify classification issues
- Prepare and file GST returns
- Coordinate with clients to obtain supporting documentation
- Ensure all transactions are properly supported and documented
- Complete weekly, monthly, and annual bookkeeping checklists
- Prepare clear financial reports and summaries
- Stay compliant with relevant federal and provincial requirements
- Diploma, certificate, or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 3+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of Quick Books Online
- Experience with apps such as DEXT, Stripe, Shopify, Pay Pal, etc.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and month-end close
- Proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft tools
- Passion for learning and teaching others
- Client-first mindset with strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy
- Problem-solver who takes ownership and follows through
- Membership in the Canadian Bookkeepers Association is an asset
- Salary range: $57,500–$67,500
