Role Description - We are seeking a full-time, office-based Accountant to join our Calgary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with Canadian regulations, and supporting the company’s continued growth. This is a hands‑on position that requires both accounting expertise and the ability to collaborate with operational and management teams.

We combine deep expertise in the energy sector with the latest advancements in IIoT to redefine operational performance in oil and gas production. By leveraging our understanding of oilfield physics, advanced mathematics, computer science, and cloud technologies, DV8 Energy unites Operators, Production Engineers, and Data Science teams to unlock their combined potential.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, payable and payroll.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Support year-end closing processes and monthly/quarterly financial analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and corporate tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulations.
  • Provide financial insights to management and clearly communicate financial data.
  • Liaise with external accounting company, and tax advisors as required.
  • Support process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Skills
  • Accounting skills with proven experience in Canadian accounting practices.
  • Some understanding of oil and gas production and its terminology.
  • Knowledge of Quick Books accounting software.
  • Experience in preparing year-end financial statements and tax filings.
  • Experience with sales tax compliance.
  • Some familiarity with Canadian tax credit programs (e.g. SR&ED) and related filings.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA designation or progress toward CPA considered an asset).
  • Quick Books (Online and/or Desktop) – General ledger, AP/AR, bank reconciliations, financial reporting.
  • Katana Cloud Inventory – Inventory management and production planning software integrated with Quick Books.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and USA and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with full‑cycle accounting (AP, AR, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations).
  • Ability to prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.li>
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Experience with intercompany transactions and consolidations (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with joint venture accounting and royalty calculations (asset in oil & gas).
  • Experience working with external auditors and supporting audit processes.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, Net Suite) considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with interest in process optimization and automation.
