Junior Controller

Our client is entering an exciting phase of modernization, expansion, and planned M&A activity. With strong financial leadership in place, they are building out the accounting function and creating a new Junior Controller role to support growth.

The Junior Controller will own the day‑to‑day accounting function for the organization. This is a highly hands-on role ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in entrepreneurial environments, enjoys building structure, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.

The Junior Controller will play a key role in inventory accounting, month-end, payroll, and financial reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their career and contribute meaningfully to a company undergoing significant growth.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end schedules
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements
• Assist with board-level reporting under ASPE
• Lead inventory accounting activities, including reconciliations, tracking, and variance analysis
• Support process improvements related to inventory controls and reporting
• Support or lead aspects of an upcoming ERP implementation
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance controls, and streamline workflows
• Ad hoc project work as required

• Strong preference for a CPA designation
• 1–2 years of industry accounting experience preferred
• Experience with inventory accounting is a strong asset
• Knowledge of indirect tax / sales tax (GST, PST) is an asset
• Exposure to system implementations or ERP transitions is beneficial
• Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
• Entrepreneurial mindset: adaptable, proactive, and nimble
• Confident working autonomously in an unstructured environment
• Ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in a scaling environment
